The Best Rainbows Ever, aka a Beautiful Ending to 2021

We traveled up to Salinas this weekend to visit Mike's grandparents, and had a wonderful time visiting with them. The drive itself was somewhat of a challenge, thanks to the torrential rainstorms battering California (the drive up took 8 hours, and at one point we passed 3 accidents within a mile of each other).

But the absolute highlight of the drive came halfway through the trip back, when the clouds broke and we got the most beautiful double-rainbows we've ever seen.

These rainbows were so clear, we wouldn't have been surprised to see Thor and Loki walking along them. And we could actually see where the rainbow "ended," and were tempted to stop the car and go looking for leprechaun gold.

But jokes and references aside, it was a really wonderful moment. These days, thanks to (looks around at the world) everything going on, we haven't had a lot of opportunities to stop and take in a lot of natural wonder. But these two rainbows were something really beautiful, something we couldn't have expected or planned for;

Something that we will definitely carry in our hearts as we head into 2022.

We really have no idea what next year will look like. We have some fun plans and ideas, but there are so many variables (and variants) that will be outside of our control. But sometimes, even when something is out of your control... it can still be beautiful.
