Our 13-Hour Power Outage

In the middle of February, we suffered a 13-hour power outage. It was no fun.

We purged two weeks worth of meal prep, setting us back a pretty penny.

But the lucky thing is that we were in a much better place financially than we've been in the past.

2019 was a very weird year for us. It was the year we got engaged, which was wonderful. But we also had multiple dental emergencies, two car accidents, and several unrelated car issues that pretty much cost us two other vehicles (we churned through multiple a few cars that year). We burned through our savings and fell behind on payments, and basically had to choose every month between rent, food, medicine, and utilities.

Now, we're still not without some challenges this year, but there is a world of difference between where we are now and where we were then. And the fact that we could actually recover from a 13-hour power outage is a sign that we've come a long way in rebuilding from the impacts of 2019 and 2020.

I mean, a 13-hour power outage is still a huge pain in the butt, but at least it reminded us how lucky we were.
