... But Our Visit TO Toledo Was Wonderful!

Last week, we told you about the spectacularly challenging trip to Toledo for our friends' wedding.

Thankfully, our time in Toledo itself was actually really wonderful!

Victoria was especially nervous about going back to the snow, something she had been swearing off for a long time. And yes, driving in the ice and snow and freezing cold was stressful, and her blood had definitely thinned in the four years since she had left Chicago.

(Little needs to be said about Mike's reaction, since he spent his entire life in California and his blood couldn't possibly have been any thinner.)

But aside from the cold, the main worry Victoria had was that Toledo would be grey and bleak, but that couldn't have been further from the truth - the skies were clear and beautiful every day we were there!

The wedding was beautiful, particularly the toasts - it's rare that you can say the toasts are the best parts of a wedding, but everyone who gave a toast told clear stories and connected with the audience, making them truly one of our highlights of the evening.

Congratulations again to Meghan and Pat!

We were able to catch up with some of the guests again at brunch on Sunday, and then we had the rest of the day to enjoy the area (our flight out was not until Monday). So, thanks to some recommendations from the bride and groom, we went to a few local bookstores and bought some books, visited a cute ice cream shop, and got dinner at a wonderful bar and grill!

While at dinner, Mike was fascinated by the view of the landscape outside, saying, "It's just so... flat! And that thing in the background, that's not a hill... it's just a forest!"

All in all, we had a really lovely, delightful time in Toledo!
